De la Jaisalmer spre est spre Bikaner 9.01.2014 from Jaisalmer to east to Bikaner

Early wake up because we have a long road today (more than 300 kilometers). The sun has just rose up and I am at Deep Mahal for breakfast. It's morning and Fatan, Little John and their nice Nepali "employee" were sleeping in the kitchen on mattresses. When I go there Fatan is almost jumping on! "Wake up and we speak after!" Little John is making the fire in a boiler, I snuggle under the blankets (it's a cold morning!) and the young Nepali boy asks for my phone. I know it's only the curiosity for music and games. He asks me about bluetooth and I don't have that. Fatan makes me a banana porridge and, before I eat it, he goes out to take the spices for me. I thought he forgot about that! We solve with money (in such places like here everything is flowing) and salute each other with brotherhood. I promise them that if I'll ever come to Jaisalmer, I'll stay here for sure! I go down to the big market inside the fort saluting once again the buildings before going out, in two big iron gates I reach the last market, visit a small temple on the left and go down after the parking place where me and Yasin set the date yesterday.

I tell him about Deep Mahal and the fort and we start our way. We go out of the city on the same way that we entered, pass the military units  (we must not forget that we are close to the Pakistani border!), follow NH 15 for 110 km to Pokhran on a good desert road (sand and dryness all over, some sand trees) and we enter the highway to Bikaner. the road is too constant for me and I will sleep for a few hours. I base on Yasin's very good Indian driver! The road is boring and Yasin tries to go fast to get ou of this zone. he doesn't seem to agree this part of the circuit!

Nu are să îmi dea 5 rupii rest.

Around 14.00 we reach Bikaner, repeat the action with the cheapest hotel at havasar Haveli known by Yasin! As usual big prices for foreigners! Yasin pays few rupees for housing and eating and sleep in the drivers' room! I don't accept the price they ask for and Yasin is not in mood for bargain. It's not working for me, he must negotiate for every 50 rupees! We find a good room at Desert Wind Hotel nearby, let the big pack in the room and go with the car to the camel farm 8 km outside of the city. Theoretically the show is better at sunset when camels come back from the desert! The locals seems like not knowing how to reach the farm and I am indignant. This is the major touristic objective for this city! Finally Yasin finds the way, we go there and we see a lot of tourists with buses, a dislike from me. I want freedom and less tourists! When I reach the entrance, I see that the entry fee is too hih for me. I am not a money thrower like other tourists! I don't enter and want just to buy some camel milk. I ask two bags (200 ml) of aromatic milk and one of raw milk (25 rupees). They don't have 5 rupees change and ask me to buy one more bag. I take that with irritation. I stress Yasin and the other drivers with this incorrectness which is a bad thing for India. they tell me that a lot of foreigners complain about that and they can do nothing about that. "Government is asking for taxes!" Fucking Government! I drink the two kinds of milk (Yasin doesn't like it) and it's not so great. It's like a raw cow milk a little more sour and bitter than usual!

We turn back to the city, yasin drops me in the city near Juganarh Fort at the roundabout for the Old Bus Station. I am in mood to wander. "Why would you do that?", any Indian could say. On the crowd Mahatma Gandhi Road I head to sunset to the old city. I pass the railway guided by the red circle from the sky, turn left on Kote Gate Road and find a little park on the left. The "urinary" tension and some messages from home, the mood dissapears and I turn back to bazaar. On the main street (Dauji/Mahatma Gandhi Road separated by one of the old city gates) I stop at a sweet store. I buy some kinds of sweets (120 rupees) and can't eat anymore after just two pieces. It's too much for my papillae! I will eat the rest in the following days!

I turn back to Juganarh Fort among stores and peddlers, drink a glass of sugar crane juice and face to the main face of the fort. It is closed (it's already dark!), pass a dancing fountain in Sursagar lake and a young man attracts me to his embroidery store. "It's next to your hotel. I will take you by bike!" "I preffer to walk, I come to your store!" On Municipal Road I reach the first roundabout and loose myself. I sit near an Indian at a boiler fire until he finishes to talk on the phone and he guides me to the stadion (near my hotel). I reach the hotel and take the dinner with Yasin at the table near the drivers' room. I am amazed that he accepted for me to enter their room which reminds me of the rooms in child camps with 8-12 parallel beds! We chat a bit and then go to sleep. We have a few interesting days in front of us!

De la munte spre albastrul Jodhpur 5.01.2014 From the mountain to the blue Jodhpur

The day of leaving these wonderful places has come! Leaving for others... We wake up wwithout rush, eat for breakfast, fix all with the money (with some tips because the people were nice at last!) and we prepare for the way. Before leaving I make a short break in/under the big banyan tree (the external cut roots raise in all directions) and at the well and the garden where they plant vegetables. We start at 10.30 on the road to Jodhpur, the blue city. Tomorrow you'll see the explanation of the name!

On the way to Pali and Jodhpur we stop only at a Hindu marble temple. In a short visit I am impressed by two Indians with red turbans who sit for a picture without telling them to do so and by the shrine for Vishnu. You can see the three characteristic elements: the phallus, the cow and the snake! On the way I doze for some time and we reach Jodhpur after noon.

Yasin knows a very nice hotel: Clock Tower Haveli. It is situated close to Clock Tower Market where you find some of the best street condiments stores. We go up to the first floor, negotiate for a cheap room at the seecond floor (as beautiful as the one at the first floor) and we go up at the roof restaurant for lunch. On the corridors I see some paintings with quotes: "It matters not how long you live, but how well you live". On the popular intimate terrace I fell like a fish in water. I meet Laurence, a very fine Parisian traveler. We talk about a lot of stuff (mandalas, mantras, yoga, dances, travels, sunset) and time goes by. It was made to meet each other here! Laurence has something to do and I go for a walk around the city. We fixed to meet later for a tea. I told her that it's very possible for me to go up to Meherangarh fort above the city. i walk for some minutes (for recognizing) in the market and find (without a plan) the narrow street that lead me to the fort.

I pass the reservoir-lake Gulab Sagar, go up on the streets and reach a football playground. "Namaste! Where do i find a way to the fort?" "On these stairs. Go tomorrow!" "I want to go now. I will go tomorrow too! Namaste!" I follow the indicated stairs and on the left I go to the fort near an artesian fountain. From this fountain I follow some dark rocky steps (I don't need artificial light) and reach the parking of the fort. I meditate for ten minutes above the parking, go to the fort entrance (it's closed) and after the fort i enter Rock Desert park. It's night, there are barking dogs, there's also nerve! I use the phone lantern to go under the fort on a paved alley and reach the valley which forms the artificial lake Ranisar Talab. Under the walls of the fort I manage to go close to the dam. I can't pass a capture point (the slope is too big and dangerous) and go back almost on the same way. Just until the parking place and from here I follow another way!

From the parking place I follow a down stairs dark street, I pass some angry dogs by talking to them and reach the narrow usual streets. I don't get lost, just loose the direction to Clock Tower. I reach the Muslim neighborhood and enter for a few minutes in the mosque. You can see the moon and the Arabian books (open from righr to left!). I continue and ask a boy for direction. He offers to guide me for free and on the way I see him chewing some tobacco. It's in fact some perfumed rough powder! No tobacco! he gives me some, I take the envelope and I'll buy tomorrow some "tobacco" for my brother in-law. We pass near a street barber shop and I ask him if I can cut my beard (for the first time in India). Of course! He stays with me for this and the barber is a true artist (a lot of skin and reflexes treatment) and we move on. I see a narrow street and ask my guide for it. "In the bazaar. Let's go!" We reach the bazaar and the hotel. I give him 50 rupees for guiding ("You don't have to!"), I stay in Laurence's "room" at the first floor and talk, go up in my room and then on the roof for dinner, we continue to talk (with Laurence and the owner) in a very nice musical ambient (he tells me about Deva Premal, Krishna Das and others) and we hardly realize when it goes over midnight

Zi magică!

What a magic day!
