De aseară am găsit că cea mai ieftină variantă să ajung la Cluj până mâine este o cursă de noapte cu Flix Bus. Nu spun pentru reclamă, doar ca o constatare. Îmi fac rezervare și plătesc online și acum mai am de petrecut o zi în Budapesta. Ce repede va trece... Vreau doar să văd Statuia libertății de pe dealul Gellert și eventual pe seară să ajung la un bazin cu apă termală. Găsisem tot întâmplător într-un ghid la hostel cea mai ieftină baie termală din Budapesta, Dandár Gyógyfürdő (1500 HUF, după amiaza, în zilele de lucru). Azi... explorare urbană!
Cu colegul de cameră pornesc la drum. El vrea să vadă alte locuri care se nimeresc să fie în drumul meu. Așa că aproape până la Podul Elisabetei (Erzsébet híd) mergem împreună. Din piața gării Nyugati (Nyugati tér) mergem pe Bajcsy-Zsilinszky útca și stânga pe Nagymező utca. Între teatrul de operetă și teatrul Thalia vedem această sugestivă sculptură.
Last evening I found the cheapest way for Cluj until tomorrow: a night bus from Flix Bus. It's not a commercial, just a fact. I make reservation and pay online and I have one more day to spend in Budapest. Time goes so fast... I only want to see Statue of Liberty on Gellert hill and maybe in the evening go to a thermal bath. I found by chance in the hostel a thick guide that the cheapest thermal bath is Dandár Gyógyfürdő (1500 HUF, afternoon, working days). Today... urban exploration!
With my room mate we start the walk. He wants to see other places which happen to be on my way. So we go together close to Elisabeth Bridge (Erzsébet híd). From Nyugati station square (Nyugati tér) we follow Bajcsy-Zsilinszky útca and left on Nagymező utca. We see this sugestive sculpture between the operetta and Thalia theaters.
El citise de restaurantul tradițional Blue Rose (Kék Rózsa Étterem) și îl găsim pe Wesselényi utca la numărul 9. Alături este muzeul holocaustului pe care nu apucăm să îl vizităm fiindcă se intră doar la anumite ore. Și aici văd o traducere în română a prezentării muzeului (traducere semi-corectă cu Google!). La restaurant chiar avem parte de un meniu tipic unguresc, picant care ne alintă papilele gustative. Colegul vrea să viziteze sinagoga alăturată (Dohány utca) și mie mi se pare scumpă intrarea (4000 HUF, include și intrarea la muzeul evreiesc maghiar). Așa că aici ne salutăm și mulțumim pentru momente faine. Uitasem să zic: eu făcusem check-out-ul și îmi lăsasem dimineață rucsacul mare la hostel. Inspirat fiindcă abia voi avea timp pe seară să îl iau și să merg mai departe!
He read about the traditional restaurant Blue Rose (Kék Rózsa Étterem) on Wesselényi utca at number 9. Next to us is the holocaust museum which we don't visit because there are some certain visiting hours. I see a romanian translation of the museum presentation (partial good translation with Google!). At the restaurant we have a typical spicy hungarian menu which cuddle our tastes. My colleague wants to visit the nearby synagogue (Dohány utca) and the entry is too expensive for me (4000 HUF, including entrance to hungarian jewish museum). So we salute and thank each other for the fine moments together. I forgot to tell you: I did the check-out in the morning, left my big packpack at the hostel and will take it in the evening in a rush!
Ies pe Károly krt. în Kossuth Lajos și fac dreapta spre podul Elizabetei (Erzsébet híd). Pe drum vizitez rapid un magazin de suveniruri militare și las înainte de pod biserica catolică parohială din Pesta (Budapest-Belvárosi Nagyboldogasszony Főplébánia-templom). În stânga, după pod, văd dealul Gellert cu Statuia libertății sus și monumentul sfântului Gellert. Între deal și Dunăre sunt băile termale Gellert și spre nord de deal băile Racz. Urc pe aleile și scările fain amenajate spre monumentul sfântului Gellert și apoi spre statuia din vârf cu pauze la locurile de panoramă spre Pesta. Complexul statuar al libertății sau Monumentul eliberării se află, alături de statuia femeii cu torță și cea a bărbatului care se luptă cu un balaur (Sf. Gheorghe?), în capătul Citadellei, fortăreață construită de autoritățile militare austriece în 1854 după înfrângerea revoluției maghiare din 1848-1949 (wikipedia). Sub citadelă sunt tot felul de magazine turistice de la care îmi și cumpăr niște magneți de frigider (fiindcă e un vânzător român!). Cobor apoi pe alei sub dealul Gellert spre băile Racz pentru alte plimbări.
I continue on Károly krt. to Kossuth Lajos and turn right to Elisabeth bridge (Erzsébet híd). On my way I visit a military souvenir shop and let the downtown Pest parish catholic church (Budapest-Belvárosi Nagyboldogasszony Főplébánia-templom) on right. On my left, after the bridge I see Gellert hill with the Statue of Liberty on the top and St. Gellert monument. Between Danube and Gellert hill we find Gellert baths and on north of the hill Racz baths. I follow up the alleys and the stairs to the monument and then to the top statue with some stops at the picturesque points. The statue complex of Liberty or Monument of Eliberation stands, next to the woman with torch and the man fighting with a dragon (St. George?), in front of the Citadel, fortress built by austrian military authorities after defeat of the hungarian revolution from 1848-1949 (wikipedia). Under the citadel I find a lot of shops and buy some magnets because the seller is romanian! I follow the alleys down the Gellert hill to Racz bath for other walks.
Trec pe sub Attila utca și pe lângă monumentul catedralei ortodoxe sârbe și pe lângă biserica sfintei Cătălina din Alexandria, pe Apród utca las pe stânga muzeul farmaciei și muzeul militar și pe lângă centrul cultural Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár) urc prin grădinile castelului (publice, deschise de la 6.00 a.m. până la miezul nopții) spre castelul Buda. Superbe grădini și interesantă scara rulantă pe care urci spre castel (alături de liftul care acum nu funcționează).
I pass under Attila utca and beside the serbian orthodox cathedral monument and the church of St. Katalin from Alexandria, on Apród utca I let on my left the farmacy museum and the military museum and beside the cultural center Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár) I go up through the castle gardens (public, open from 6.00 a.m. till midnight) to Buda castle. Amazing gardens and an interestint escalator to the castle (next to the lift not working now).
Urc pe sub turnuri în rondela Deli și pe lângă Turnul buzduganului (Buzogánytorony) ajung în grădinile în care se găsește Muzeul de Istorie al Budapestei. Merg mai departe printre palatul Oroszlános udvar și biblioteca Országos Széchenyi Könyvtár, ies în curtea castelului Huniazilor (Hunyadi) unde citesc istoria reconstituirii palatului Hauszmann (1243- prezent) și văd fântâna regelui Mátyás. Ies pe terasele castelului la statuia lui Eugeniu de Savoya și ajung la Statuia copiilor pescari pe unde fusesem și data trecută (mai sus se poate vedea schimbul de gardă la miezul zilei).
I go up under the towers to Deli rondella and beside Mace Tower (Buzogánytorony) I reach the gardens with Budapest History Museum. I continue in the gardens between Oroszlános udvar palace and Országos Széchenyi Könyvtár library, reach Huniads (Hunyadi) castle garden where I read the Hauszmann palace rebuilding history (1243- prezent) and see king Mátyás fountain. I go out on the castle terraces to the statue of Eugene of Savoy and at the Statue of fishermen children I reach the point I visited last time (up there you can see the guard change at noon).
Cobor pe lângă funicular până pe platforma tunelului Buda și apoi pe alei pe stânga până sub tunel, trec la kilometrul zero (a se vedea stema Ungariei mari unde e inclusă și Transilvania și forma kilometrului zero :)!) și pe partea cealaltă a podului cu lei citesc câte ceva despre William Tierney Clark (1783-1852), inginerul proiectant al podului. Sunt în piața Széchenyi István tér cu monumentul grofului Széchenyi István în centru și Academia Maghiară de Științe în stânga mea. De aici găsesc străduțe care mă duc în Piața Libertății (Szabadság tér) unde găsesc un monument al eliberatorilor sovietici de sub conducerea austriacă.
I go down beside the funicular to the Buda castle platform and then on the alleys from left I go down to the tunnel entrance, pass Kilometer Zero (see the Big Hungary coat of Arm including Transylvania and the form of Kilometer Zero :)!) and on the other side of the bridge I read something about the bridge planning engineer William Tierney Clark (1783-1852). I am in Széchenyi István tér/square with the monument of grof Széchenyi István in the center and Science Hungarian Academy on my left. I find streets that take me to Freedom Square (Szabadság tér) where I find the monument of the sovietic eliberators from austrian rullers.
Trec mai departe pe la flacăra veșnică a lui Batthyány Lajos (Batthyány Lajos-örökmécses), primul prim ministru al Ungariei (1807-1849). De aici pe Nagy Ignác utca ajung la hostel, mulțumesc încă o dată pentru găzduire, îmi iau rucsacul și la drum. Ultimul meu obiectiv este pe Dandár utca la numărul 3. Asta înseamnă la rând bulevardele Teréz krt., József krt. și Ferenc krt. apoi Mester utca la stânga și a cincea stradă la dreapta. Se întunecă în timp ce merg și sper să găsesc locul dorit.
I pass further beside the eternal flame of Batthyány Lajos (Batthyány Lajos-örökmécses), the first hungarian prime minister (1807-1849). On Nagy Ignác utca I reach the hostel, thank again for hosting, take my backpack and on the way. My last objective is on 3, Dandár utca. This means Teréz krt., József krt. and Ferenc krt. boulevards then Mester utca to left and the fifth street on right. It is getting dark and I hope to find the wished place.
Găsesc baia termală pe care o căutam (Dandár Gyógyfürdő). Este de fapt un complex medical centrat pe apele termale de 38°C, 36°C și 20°C mineralizate, cu dușuri, săli de masaj și tratament. Complexul a fost construit în 1930 și refăcut ca centru spa în 1978. Se spune că baia termală de aici era folosită de oamenii săraci pentru a-și putea permite și ei momente de relaxare. Tot așa se mai spune că de multe ori aici veneau doar să se spele. Vă dați seama că acum nu mai e cazul, e foarte curat și cu foarte mult personal medical. Plătesc cei 1500 HUF, primesc o brățară și merg la vestiare, Doar ce să vezi că nu îmi încape rucsacul în dulap. Întreb ce să fac, nu pot ieși să plătesc pentru un dulap mai mare, cadrele medicale de aici nu știu engleză... Până la urmă o asistentă mă ia cu ea și îmi las rucsacul în camera asistentelor. Ce or fi vorbit între ele nu știu, cert e că m-au ajutat. E adevărat că m-au și certat puțin la final fiindcă nu știu ce făcusem de blocasem dulapul unde aveam restul hainelor și rucsacul mic! Doar cu prosop și slip cobor la bazinele cu apă termală. Sunt oameni de toate vârstele în cele două bazine cu apă mai caldă și în cel cu apă de 20°C nu e nimeni. Oare de ce? De fapt puțini vor intra și vor sta acolo! Eu cât de cât sunt obișnuit cu apa rece, nu mi se pare extrem de rece. Îmi propun serii de 10 minute în bazinul de 38°C, 10 minute în cel de 36°C și 5 minute în cel de 20°C. Fac așa câteva serii bune până puțin înainte de 21.00 când se închide. Ce relaxare, ce sublim! Asistenta care m-a ajutat cuc rucsacul chiar vine de câteva ori și glumește cu noi. Chiar că uiți de toate câte îți umblă prin minte în bazinele astea! Relaxat ies și pornesc iarăși la drum. Mai am ceva până la stația de autobuz Nepliget de la intersecția Könyves Kálmán krt. cu Üllői útca.
I find the thermal bath I was looking for (Dandár Gyógyfürdő). It is a medical complex focused on the thermal waters of 38°C, 36°C and 20°C, mineralized, with showers, massage and treatment rooms. The complex was built in 1930 and opened as spa center in 1978. It is said that the thermal bath was used by poor people for some relaxing moments. It is also said that they came here only to wash themselves. It is not the case now, everything is very clean and a lot of medical employees. I pay 1500 HUF, get a bracelet and go to the lockers. Hm, my backpack is too big for any locker. I ask what can I do, I can't go out to take a bigger locker, the medical employees from here don't know english... Finally a nice assistent woman takes me with her and I let my pack in the assistents' room. I don't know what they talked about this but the helped me. It is also true that they argued me at exit for blocking my locker with other small backpack and stuff! I take my towel and the underware and go down to the thermal water pools. There are people of all ages in the hotter two pools and no one in the 20°C one. Why? In fact very few will enter and stay there! I am used with cold water, it doesn't feel so cold. I make a few series of 10 minutes in 38°C pool, 10 minutes in 36°C pool and 5 minutes in 20°C pool until 21.00 when they close. How relaxing, how transcendent! The assistent that helped me with my backpack comes for a few times and make jokes with us. You forget all the thoughts wandering in your head! I go out very relaxed and continue my way. I still have some to walk to Nepliget bus station from cross of Könyves Kálmán krt. with Üllői útca.
Ies de la baie, fac stânga până în Soroksári útca, iarăși stânga până la un pod mare Könyves Kálmán krt. care este de fapt una din centurile interne ale orașului. Trec de Mester utca și de o reprezentanță Ford (vă dați seama că nu văd prea multe noaptea) și la Remíz utca (care ajunge la gara Ferenczvaros) văd memorialul Malenkij Robot. Este vorba de forța de muncă ungară luată cu forța în Uniunea Sovietică. Accesul în buncăr se face doar cu programare în prealabil, între 10 și 22 de vizitatori, www.malenkij.hu. Oricum nu e o amintire foarte plăcută, ca recentele mele amintiri de la Auschwitz...
I go out of the bath, turn left to Soroksári útca, again left to a big bridge Könyves Kálmán krt. which is a internal city belt. I pass Mester utca and a Ford dealer (I don't see too much in the night) and at Remíz utca (for Ferenczvaros train station) I see Malenkij Robot memorial. It is about the hungarian labor force taken by force to Soviet Union. The access in the bunker is only by appointment, between 10 and 22 visitors, www.malenkij.hu. Anyway the memory of this is not very pleasant, as my recent memories from Auschwitz...
De aici la autogara Nepliget e o aruncătură de băț. Ajung repede și am vreo oră și jumătate de stat. Așa că nu am ce face decât să urmăresc călătorii (ca și mine) care vin și pleacă în diverse direcții. Același amestec plăcut de oameni din toate țările și de toate limbile :)! În rezervare primisem biletul de autocar cu cod QR (bilet în română, atenționare că se schimbă fusul orar), factura (72 de lei) și etichetele pentru bagaje. Foarte elegant! Puțin înainte de ora plecării vine autocarul, punem bagajele și la 23.00 pornim la drum. Mai stau puțin treaz până ieșim din Budapesta, adorm până la graniță unde ne verifică identitatea (prin pașapoarte sau cărți de identitate) și după vreo 5 ore și jumătate suntem în Cluj Napoca. Casă, dulce casă! Țară, dulce țară!
Vorbisem cu colegii de club să mergem într-o tură pe Piatra Craivii și merg pe jos până la punctul de întâlnire. Ajung acolo pe lumină, ne bucurăm toți de revedere și începem tura cu vreo 6 mașini. Dar asta e altă poveste :)!
I have just a few minutes to Nepliget bus station. I am there quite fast and I have about 1.5 hours to stay. The only thing I can do is following the travellers (as me) coming and leaving in different directions. The same pleasant mix of people from all countries and languages :)! In the reservation I got the bus ticket with QR code (ticket in romanian, attention for changing the time zone), the invoice (72 lei) and the baggages tags. Very elegant! The bus comes a few minutes before the departure time, we put the bagages and at 23.00 the wheel moves. I stay awake before getting out of Budapest, sleep until the border line where they check the ID (passport or ID card) and after about 5,5 hours we are in Cluj Napoca. Home, sweet home! Country, sweet country!
I talked with my colleagues to go on a trip on Piatra Craivii and I walk to the meeting point. I reach it by day, we are happy to see each other and start the trip in 6 cars. But this is another story :)!
