Zi pe drumuri 2.01.2014 Driving day

After a relaxing day we have a driving one! The road is not easy for the client or co-driver except the moments of  dozing. We wake up and eat together in the garden, fix everything with the money (the hosts are very fair and put the right prices), a tip is given and I promise to come back again or to recommend them to others. At 10.30 we start the way to Udaipur. This is not a city that convinced me to go (from the description in the guide), but there must be something if Yasin wanted to go. First we go down on curves with monkeys to the entrance of Ajmer. We don't stop even if we had a fort to see here. Yasin manages to go out of the city and we enter the highway. I doze on the way and I don't see to much on the road. At the midway we stop at the midway restaurant and I find a flag for my mother at a souvenir store. We cover nearly 300 kilometers and reach Udaipur in the afternoon. Yasin (I found out lately that this is the name of one sura, chapter, in the Coran, Qur'an and I will soon read this sura) is not attracted with the city. I don't let him to arrange the housing at an expensive hotel (I like his way of saying "exipensive") and I agree only with a reasonable price. The hotel has, as many others, a roof restaurant with a view to lake Pichola, one of the two big lakes of Udaipur. The view is eclipsed by a bigger building than the hotel! We stay in a corner of the terrace and it's fair for me that Yasin and I eat at the same table. Hard to accept for him due to the social condition: me as a tourist, him as a driver. I hardly accept this idea. Finally we are not human? I have nothing more comparing to him! Even his hosting as a driver gives problems for the owner and they fix it in the end. Yasin tells me stories about his family and family problems, about children, he suggests me to raise the tip (it's my business and my calculations for his tip) and we establish to meet each other tomorrow in the morning.

Început de an fericit 1.01.2014 Happy beginning of the year

Once again "Happy new year 2014!"

I'm far away from home and I feel at home! All the fatigue and anger from yesterday dissapreared. I wake up now in a cool morning (just a few degrees) and I open the window. Green garden, full of all kind of  useful and used plants and flowers... I take a deep breath, go up on the terrace and make a round tour. Pushkar is lower, mountains are all around, air is flowing in all your body... I go down and enter the garden. Roses and flowers of all colors, strawberries, green 2 meters high stems, coconuts in a tree, ground divided in ditches, some with water... The family owner of Maa Chand hotel live in the back of the garden. I turn back to the externat terrace where they have some rooms-tents. There is still hoarfrost on one of them! I take my breakfast with some fruit porridge and a tea and we arrange for a camel safari for the noon (only 200 ruppes/hour, a three hour safari with the sunset!)

I have free time for three hours. Active resting! I head to the center decided to reach Brahma's and Savitri's temples. I pass the downtown (more than yesterday evening) and continue on the main crowded street. At one moment I see a Jain white marble temple on the left and I enter in a full silence. So clean in the middle of external misery! I reach Brahma's temple, they tell me to let my sandals and my backpack and they give me a bundle of flowers. "For Brahma!" A young boy offers to be a guide "for free". He tells me very fast about the gods of the temple, takes me faster over the locals. I remember the explanation of GOD: Brahma Generator - creator of all things and beings, Vishnu Operator - let into action, Shiva Destroyer - the one meant to destroy for re-creation. At the exit they ask money for the box i used for my baggage and guiding. "You didn't say anything about this. If you said at the beginning, I would have given!" i go down on the main street and turn right to Savitri's Temple.

S-a creat o legătură extraordinară!

I pass a herd of pigs and follow the dusty lane to the limit of the desert. I see the first camels! Some locals even offer me something to drink from the store! "Maybe when I come back" I take a picture with some kids on the sand. "Ten rupees!" "Sorry, I don't have!" On the way that I'll find later as being the safari way I see an Indian woman face-covered with a bag on the had. Pleasant presence! I start to climb the stairs paved alley followed by a rock paved path. At the middle of the way up I meet a grey haired woman in a break. "I'm not so used with the effort!" "Each has his own rhythm :D!" "We meet up at the temple!" I feel a strong sensation: I know this woman from my future from Camino de Santiago de Compostela! I tell you future because i didn't walk on Camino! I continue with the thought that I have to tell her in some way! I reach the temple from the top of the mountain, enter the temple to goddess Savitri and walk around in the temple. The temple is guarded by a cow and some monkeys (curious, not thieves, very warm with their babies). I continue to walk on the ridge and stop at a big rock slope. An Indian climb up the ridge and he stops beside me, makes me a sign to sit and give me some water (pani). No other words, just looking to each other! I turn back to the temple and Maria, the Argentinian woman that I met before, was on the entering stairs. We talk about the safety of shoes and admire the careful monkeys. We present each other (Maria Kartika, Cezar). I feel so much energy between us. Before leaving, I confess to her about the earlier sensation. "I walked on Camino. And I want to go again next year" "Maybe we'll go together...". We change facebook addresses, hug and I start to walk down. "I have a camel safari later" "You must go, it's fantastic! Maybe we go out for a tea this evening" "I'll look for you if I can go out". Some moments! I fastly go down the stairs, pass the city and reach the hotel at 13.50.

My guide came with Mohan, the male camel (only the males are used for human or goods transport), we drink a tea and up on the camel. We follow another road, talk about everything and go out of Pushkar on the right of Savitri mountain to the dunes. On the bridge-dam of the lake, the guide climbs on Mohan and we can go faster. At the dunes we stop for half an hour, I am warned that the Gypsies will come for a group and I don't have to pay anything, Anyway it's the first time in the desert and on a camel! It's amazing! Three Indians come from the desert and they sing to me (I try to sing also) at bhopsi (a kind of cobza made of natural elements - coconut, camel hair and skin, carved wood). I give them 100 rupees each and they argue for the money! Maybe it's just for the image! Before coming of the Gypsies, I happily go down on dunes on the sand and it's not very hot. I go up from the sand hole, film some Gypsy dances from some distance (near the group of lazy Jews) and we start to go back with Mohan. We reach the sunset on other dunes, I take some shots while walking and find some information about the camel fair from September (I saw some camel skeletons and they were intriguing!). With some Parisians we enter on the camels in the city and go to the hotel. I get down of the camel with the specific movement, give a tip to the guide (he was very good and I learned a lot from him) and I am happy after this amazing day. In the evening we sit around the fire and the hosts tell me about the troubles they have (some fights last night and problems at the hospitals). I don't let this affect me not even when they close the hotel's gate for the fear of some drunk and brawler Government commissioners. We continue the stories around the fire late in the night, I take a bottle of water and go to sleep. What a day!

Sfârșit de an călduros de la Jaipur la Pushkar 31.12.2013 Warm end of the year from Jaipur to Pushkar

Last evening I made the plan with Yasin: first visit Amber/Amer fort (dedicated to goddess Amba), then wander around in the city and leave to Pushkar. I wake up early and go around before the leaving hour. I want so much to climb the mountain behind the hotel! I go out of the hotel to the main street and I see Old City of Maharaja Sawa Man Singh on the other side of the street. It's closed and I take some pictures over the fence. I turn back to hotel area, pass a small park where Indians practice different sports (badminton, jogging, yoga), find some streets which head to the mountain and enter the court of some state institution with no public access. No one says anything, if it's not forbidden, it's allowed! I reach a drainage channel and pass some bushes to the sewage treatment plant! I walk around and look like I'm an environment inspector. The guardians show me all the station (filtering zone, chemical treatment zone, flocculation zone etc). I recognize the active solutions and they are over with "sulfuric acid"! I am the European who came for control them! They show me a way to the main street, I pass a jewelry store and go back to the hotel. We talk again and confirm the plan! We go up to Amber fort in a lot of touristic crowd. Yasin hardly finds a parking place and guides me to the half of the distance to the fort and back. I go up through the two floored gardens and near Maotha lake (where was the elephant menagerie) I reach Kesat Kyari gardens. They don't let me go inside the gardens and guide me back to the auto road. Yeah, sure! I fastly climb up the way on the walls and reach up of the Amber fort to the gate that leads to Jaigarh fort. The last one is less touristic and inhabited by a military garrison. Because I am the only one there, I don't pay any ticket. I should pay up at the gate after one kilometer. I go up the paved road and the price seems too big for an "on working" fort. I go back and follow the water drainage channel to go under the walls of Amber. Not by chance I find a tower where from a cableway went down to the level of the lake. I walk between towers and reach the way of elephants. I pay 50 rupees to take a picture with an elephant (for bananas for the elephant)! 500 rupees to ride an elephant from the bottom of the hill to the palace and back (too much)! I start to walk down, change my mind and walk up near the elephants to the main court. 50 rupees for two pies, pictures to the gates of the fort and I reach a balcony (by passing the free toilet!) where I can see the Amer city and the fortifications of both forts (like a mini Big Chinese Wall). I salute the great fort and go out on the same gate that I entered. While going down I meet my Canadian who came with a bus. We change some words and then I go down to Yasin in the parking place. We go back to city near the elephants who finished their shift, make a short break for a picture to Jal Mahal fort-island and Yasin asks me if I want to see a traditional fabrics. I know their tricks! I let them show me the printing methods for models with more colors, manual working of pre-printed models, methods of manufacturing silk and carpets. "Buy something, you are my first client and it's bad luck if you don't buy!" "Yeah, sure, I don't buy!" They don't fool me so easily! Yasin takes me to the City Palace parking and advise me how to visit all for free. I pass Jantar Mantar where some could see a very precise astronomic observatory (like one in Delhi), I keep turning right waiting for the first street on left (Yasin's indication) and I follow this one to Tripolia Bazaar big street. I turn left, in a few hundred meters I enter in a small temple and I am guided to the ticket office of Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). I don't want to visit it! From the roundabout I turn left (the facade of Hawa Mahal is on the left) and climb some stairs at the second floor for a better view of the facade. The "guide" wants so much to buy something from the jewelry store! I go back to the entrance of the City Palace between pigeons and seeds merchants. I enter the Palace Cafe for two pictures (one to a musician) and go to Yasin in the parking (the parking tax is included in the price of the car). We continue our way to Kishangarh (around 14.00), a city where you can find at a short distance the Makrana to the stone quarry where from they took translucent marble for Taj Mahal. It's too far for Yasin and he doesn't want to go. I am a little upset and it will get over in the evening (not immediately as for Indians). Before Ajmer we turn right following the signs for Pushkar. The desert road is very fine, locals walk on the sides of the road, everything looks so quiet... The curves take us to Pushkar, the holy place where Brahma started his mission of preaching. Yasin takes me to a hotel and we have to bargain for the price. I don't want to pay more that 300 rupees for one night. I never liked this with Indians: bargain for everything! In the evening I eat something and go for a walk to Pushkar lake. near hotel Pushkar i go down to the lake in the noise of the New Year parties. Because Pushkar is a holy city, the noise will end at midnight! I go around the lake on the ghats following the indications of not going less that 40 feet on the marble stairs to the lake shore. There's so much silence on the other side of the lake as I am in another world. I come back to the center of the resort, stay for about two hours in an internet cafe to send New Year emails and go back to the hotel. We have another evening meal (nothing special) and spiritual talking with the hosts. half an hour after midnight I go to bed! Everything is so calm that you resonate with the whole universe! As Europeans say, the calm before the storm! Here you have not a storm, but another calm! Happy New Year 2014!
