Vantaa 23.11.2018

It's the start of the second season in Lapland... I have a 20 hours break in Helsinki before going up to north. In fact the airport is not in Helsinki, it is in Vantaa. Vantaa, Helsinki and Espoo cities form the Helsinki metropolis. It is light when I get out of the airport and with the two backpacks (14 kg + 6-7 kg) I decide to reach the first closest national park Sipoonkorpi (Sipoonkorven kansallispuisto). I should walk about 15 km, it shouldn't be a problem.

I follow Google Maps, get out of the airport, at the first cross I turn left and get out of the street on a rocky area (it reminds me of Lenin park and all Helsinki), come back to the street and follow the indications... At Koivuhaka arboretum/Koivuhaan puulajipuisto (coordinates 60.304804, 25.007873) I get of the road and up on the alleys. It is a nice lighted park, with garbage bins and protection nets for the trees (for not being destroyed by animals). I go to Kvesvedstranden area and I pass the road through an under tube to a long green area with a few houses taking me from Simonkylaa to Ruskeasanta.

It is getting dark and I don't see to much. I saw a lake on the map somewhere around and changed my destination/understood that the national park is hard to reach in a few hours with all the weight. And more it is dark and nothing to see... The lake is nice and a bit frozen, I pass near by and wander in the park-forest before going back to the airport on small streets.

At the airport I have the surprise to meet Perica, a croatian who lived a few years in Romania and is naturalizing step by step. He works in the same company with me, in a different location. So I offer him some "unsaid" info and we keep in touch. In the morning both have planes to north (Lapland...)
